    Quite interesting, but this phenomenon is certainly not unique to China. I did a post about this trend in America just today and the results are about the same. All of the environmental, economic and social damages we do through mass consumerism is not getting us one little bit of happiness.

    Research has shown that material desire tends to rise with income to always keep happiness just out of reach, no matter how much you consume. In addition, excessive consumption brings with it problems like obesity, excessive debt and overwhelm which actually end up reducing life satisfaction.

    The global trend of chasing happiness through consumption really is a very dangerous indeed…
